Radon Is The Second Leading Cause Of Lung Cancer In America. Get Tested!

Radon is a naturally occurring radioactive gas released in the soil, rock, and water from the natural decay of Uranium. We are always breathing in radon in small amounts in our natural air.  However, inside of buildings radon can build up to higher levels and negatively affect you and your family's health.  You can't see, taste, or smell radon.  But trust us, it's there!

According to the EPA(Environmental Protection Agency) Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the U.S.! Second only to smoking.  Even moderately high levels of radon in a home can be the equivalent of smoking a pack of cigarettes a day, or more!  Of course if you smoke and your home has high radon levels your risk of cancer is increased.  The EPA estimates that Radon causes more than 20,000 deaths per year!  This number is totally and easily preventable.

Radon is a risk all over the united states(or anywhere for that matter) and no areas are free from risk. Two homes right beside each other can have greatly different radon levels due to construction, venting, and the amount of Uranium in the soil.  The U.S. Surgeon General recommends every home be tested for radon.

It's commonly known by businesses that Greenville County has the highest levels in South Carolina.  Most consumers haven't even heard of Radon unless they have entered into a real estate contract and it is mentioned then.  Many times consumers are still not reminded about radon.  Most real estate agents have come across radon concerns at some point in their career.  Especially in Greenville County. If you just bought a home and didn't get it tested you should have your home tested at once.
